Christmas by Jennifer Rene Daniel

Christmas
by Jennifer Rene Daniel
The bustle of the Christmas shops
The music blaring loud
I seem to miss the Saviour
in that bright and motley crowd

The prattle of the little tongues
Of all they hope to get
I find the biggest gift of all
Not mentioned-they forget!

The happy songs at Christmas time
Of sleights and silvery bells
I long to hear of Bethlehem
The songs we knew so well

O Saviour, must Thou stand aside
In all this bright array?
So tragically rejected
A meaningless display!

Oh sing thy joyous praise to God
And worship Him anew
Remembering His birth, His Death
Salvation brought to you!

Such a wonderful thing to meditate on after we've done all our Christmas decorations today!

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. Lovely poem... a good reminder to us of what is lacking in many places re: Christmas!

If you have gone a little way ahead, O friend, call back --
Twill cheer my heart and help my feet along the stony track.
