NOTHING shall be IMPOSSIBLE!!

Today I want you to take a moment and sloooooooow dooooown with me and take the time to reflect on whatever is racing through your mind that seems impossible. After a wonderful weekend, there are soo many things that I am behind on today, so much is on my 'list' that I MUST do TODAY. I must NOT neglect to spend time with God and sometimes that means I must slow down.

Slow down with me, won't you??

I read this passage of Scripture from Luke 1:26-38 just this morning and was struck by the words, "For with God NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE." I thought of my day-to-day concerns, you know, those normal trials we face in our everyday life.

Those things we think of as we are folding laundry, or reading to our children. You don't think of something entirely different while you are reading? Why I can do that to a fault!! I remember reading to my children and not having my mind on the story at all. I would have to ask my children questions when we were done (since we homeschooled and I was the teacher) to get an idea of what had just been read. All the while my mind would be traversing the worries of life.

So, slow down, and meditate on this passage and please read it (don't skip it) and see if God will show you something through the miraculous conception of Mary who was a virgin:

And in the Sixth month the angel Gabriel
was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,
of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said,
Hail, thou that art highly favoured,
the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying,
and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her,
Fear not,
Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb,
and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Then said Mary unto the angel,
How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth,
she hath also conceived a son in her old age:
and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
FOR WITH GOD NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE!!!
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord;
be it unto me according to thy word.
And the angel departed from her.

I hope you didn't skim through this passage. Meditating on Scripture comes through slowing down and digesting God's Word into your heart so it can transform your mind.

Like I was saying, Mary was a virgin. That means she had had NO physical intimacy with a man. For her to get pregnant was IMPOSSIBLE.

When I read the words, "For with God NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE" a light bulb went off in my head (a lightbulb moment?) and thought how Mary became pregnant through the Holy Ghost though getting pregnant without physical intimacy is absolutely impossible.

You might have an impossible situation in your relationship with your husband, or financial impossibilities of debt, tight finances, or maybe you have five children under six, or like a friend once had...four children under four, or do you have a wayward child who is rebelling against the God you love (a pain that goes deep in a mama) where it seems improbable that they will turn, and all these trials seem impossible. Absolutely impossible!!

This Christmas Season, take the time each day to slow down and reflect on Jesus' coming to earth as a baby to save our sins. It was impossible for Jesus to be conceived in Mary's womb without physical intimacy from a man. Jesus was God. Jesus could NOT be conceived through Joseph as he was merely a man. It was impossible, highly improbable, yet "For with God NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE." Shall is emphatic!! It shouts the POSSIBLE when it is IMPOSSIBLE!!

Jesus cares for what concerns you today. He cares for what has been racing through your mind this morning as you rushed through your daily routines in order to get to those extra things 'calling your name.' Jesus, through this passage is telling you, "For with God NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE!!"

Matthew 19:26
"But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,
With men this is impossible;
but with God all things are possible."

by Eugene L. Clark, 1925-1982

Nothing is impossible when you put your trust in God;
Nothing is impossible when you're trusting in His Word.
Hearken to the voice of God to thee:
"Is there anything too hard for Me?"
Then put your trust in God alone and rest upon His Word;
For ev'rything, O, ev'rything,
yes ev'rything is possible with God.

If you wonder how the tune goes:

  4. Amen! Nothing is impossible with God.

    This morning, I returned to work after a week's annual leave. I wasn't in the office more than 20 minutes when the office manager told me I was requested to do minutes (Child Protection). "Oh no!" I thought, I haven't even had time to catch up on my emails whilst I was off, never mind find out background information on the case in hand. I had 40 minutes to get templates, etc sorted and had to quickly read up on what little information I had to get myself prepared.

    I went to the bathroom and prayed for help and quoted out loud: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

    In our own strength, our circumstances seem overwhelming, but nothing is impossible with God. He did indeed help too :D

    Love your post Judith.

    1. Nothing is impossible!! There is nothing like having a wonderful time off from work and finding the work has piled up while we were gone. Whether we have real deadlines like you did, or fabricated ones like I have, God is there to give us strength in whatever we face.
