Five Minute Friday: This Shared Feast & Friday Faves

Every Friday, over at Lisa-Jo Baker, tales of a Gypsy Mamma women write for five minutes flat. All on the same prompt that she posts at 1 minute past midnight EST every Friday. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

So, this week I am participating. Let's see what happens!!!!!

This Shared Feast
It was just my husband and I; the children were gone!!
All of them were gone.
The table was elegantly set with our finest China chipped-around-the-edges Correll dishes.
Complete with blue checkered napkins and the finest of silver stainless ware.
First there was a salad of mixed greens, pea pods, cherry tomatoes, and garlic and cheese croutons.
My husband commented that the salad looked like it belonged in a restaurant.
After the salad, there was a delicious dish of breaded-garlic-chicken-tenders, baked baby potatoes served in butter and onions, and a slice of buttered raisin bread.
For dessert, there were two Whitman chocolates for each.
The food was delicious, the conversation sweet around the looong empty table minus seven.  Someday this will be the norm...but not yet!!
'This Shared Feast' was for two; someday there will be a 'Shared Feast' with Jesus, the Lamb of God.
Will you be present at 'That Shared Feast?'
Five Minute Friday

Friday Faves
Tuesday night we had to drive three hours from our country home to the city airport to send three of our children off on a mission trip. I totally forgot to add my favorite reads from the past week in setting up WholeHearted-Home Wednesdays so here goes for my Friday Faves!!

Here is a sweet blogger whose blog I hop on over to weekly. She wrote an inspiring post this week called, The Double-Edged-Sword. She blogs over at Fanta-4-Two. You have to read why she has given her blog that title!! You'll just have to visit her to see!!

Blogging With A Mission ( & Link Up)
In a moment of 'thinking I should just not bother to blog any longer' I came across a wonderful post on 'Blogging with a Mission' from Denise in Bloom. I hope you will take the time to read this as it is such an encouragement. She couldn't have said better for me why I blog

Gail, over at Bible Love Notes wrote a very helpful post that is a must read:

Fun Free Blog Tool I hope you stop over to read this as it will help you to be a better blogger for the Lord (it is the Lord you blog for, right??) Gail would love it if you subscribed to her 1-Minute Bible Love Notes too!!

Happy Friday ladies!!

In Christ Alone,
~Judith~

  1. Visiting from Five Minute Friday...welcome!

Your meal sounds delicious. It sounds like you might have an empty nest soon and plenty of time to connect with your husband. I love the simplicity you described for such a, I'm sure, memorable evening together. Best wishes to you and your family!

  4. Judith, thank you so much for your kind words. And anytime you think about stopping your mission of blogging, you'll have to get past me first!!

Your blog is SO encouraging to so many, and your words and your heart are needed. Please do not let yourself be discouraged in your walk, you are investing in eternity and never, ever lose sight of that.

Thank you for taking the time to write. I've thank you before, and want to remind you how very precious this blog is - not just to me, but to many.

  5. Mmmmmm! This looks really yummy Judith!

I'm sure it won't be long until your numbers are complete around the table once more - those special occasions will be ever so precious... and in time - there will be even more around the table when these wonderful occasions happen! You and your husband are so blessed to have such a wonderful family... and they are so blessed to have a loving Christian mother like you.
