To Forgive or NOT to Forgive?! Part 1

Soon I'm going to sink down into the pillows on my bed and like millions of nights before, my thoughts will reflect over the day.

Over the years of raising children, there have been many days I have had regrets as I walked that day a little too much in the flesh, not in the Spirit. You see, sometimes I am the one who needs to be forgiven but too often we focus on the other person and how THEY offended ME!!

As I drift off to sleep tonight, this is my prayer:

"O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word in my tongue,
but lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting."
~Psalm 139:1~

Again, search me, O God, not my husband or child. ME!! Change me, O God!!

There is one prayer God just waits for you to say. He wants you to ask Him to search you.

Have you given God permission to dig into your life?

I prayed that prayer last week.

God is refining me and working in my life and there will be areas in my life that need his touch, even if I live until I'm ninety!!

What about you?

Have you given God permission to dig into your life?

"There are many devices in a man's heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand."
~Proverbs 19:21~

To be continued!! Stay tuned!!

I'd LOVE you to leave a comment!!

Since I live out 'in-the-sticks'... friends, like you are a long ways away!!
Sooo, I'd love you to follow me on:

  1. Thank you, Judith, for this heart-searching post! I needed to read it and it reminded me to not be so quick to point the finger at someone else, but rather point the finger at me and allow God to show me areas in my life that need changing.
You are a blessing! Thank you, my friend.

    Hugs,
    Stephanie

  2. Judith...its not easy asking the Lord to dig into your life is it? But its something we should do often to keep ourselves accountable to Him. Thank you for the encouragement today sweet friend. As always I'm blessed by your words.

  6. Judith,
Stormie Omartian says there are two ways to avoid guilt as a parent. The first is to die soon after your child is born. The second is to walk with the Lord and ask him for wisdom every day of your life. I prefer the second, and it reminds me how important it is to begin each day with the prayer, "Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there be any wicked way in me." When I invite God to examine me, he's usually quite honest. If I respond humbly, in confession and forsaking, he's free to change me. How thankful I am tha he loves us where he finds us, but he doesn't leave us there.

I heard from Gail that you live in PA. I hope to present a women's conference called Praying with Power in Ridgway, PA. in the late spring. Is that by chance anywhere near you? What fun it would be to visit!

  7. Such a good reminder, Judith! Sometimes it's painful when God digs into my life. But, as you've pointed out, I'm always better for it. Thank you for the godly testimony you share here in your blog with all of us. Blessings!
