Five-Minute-Friday: Focus

Five Minute Friday
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..
FOCUS

Focus.

It is much easier to focus when it is absolutely quiet, yet, over the years I have learned to focus with the happy sounds of children surrounding me. Now, they are older, and often still come around to fill the kitchen where I sit with their talking and laughing. Maybe even a kitchen towel flipped or water dunked onto someone's head in fun. I focus on my 5 Minute Friday post with life happening around me.

But what really is my focus

The past couple days my focus has been anxiety. It shouldn't be but it was. As I felt the worried thoughts race through my body, I thought how that shouldn't be.

As I prepared my quiet time, I focused on Jesus. He is the One we can bring every concern. There should be no worry. No anxiety.

This morning I focused on Jesus and laid those anxious thoughts down at the foot of the cross. He paid for all my sin, even the sin of anxiety. The empty cross became my focus as the burden lifted from my shoulders.

Today is another day filled with the beautiful hues of color that the sun brings to the trees and grass outside my window. This is the day that the Lord has made for me. With a free heart and mind, I can now much more easily focus on my day and all there is to do.

I'd LOVE you to leave a comment!!

  1. Beautiful... Thank you so much for these words. I too, with four children running wild around me, have learned to focus and enjoy this "wild and crazy" time in my life... I enjoyed your words. Stopping in from FMF

  3. Hi Judith! I love that He's made this day for us...have fun in it and tell your anxious worries, "Thanks but no thanks! My God will take care of you!" Blessings on this glorious day! :)

  4. There is NO WAY I could focus with a 5-minute rule hanging over my head. :-)

I had a bigger than usual worry spell this week, too. It was particularly silly, since I had just been praising God for an answered prayer. Then I had to remember, "Cast ALL your care upon Him; for He careth for you."
