Praise!! A New Habit for May!!

PRAISE ye the LORD.
Praise,
O ye servants of the LORD,
praise the name of the LORD.
Blessed be the name of the LORD
from this time forth and evermore.
From the rising of the sun unto the
going down of the same
the LORD's name is to be praised.
~Psalm 113:1-3~

I have chosen to have a NEW HABIT for the month of May!! I am going to concentrate harder on praising and blessing the LORD 'from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same.' All day!! All the time!! Forevermore!! No matter what happens, I will learn to praise the LORD!!

We often make 'new habits' or take on 'new challenges.' It is a good thing to work towards a good habit. I read about 'new habits' and 'challenges' frequently such as: getting dressed in the morning, wearing shoes, cleaning our sink, a daily quick washing of the bathroom, drinking more water, reading God's Word, fiber drinks, and so forth. This month (May), I am going to focus on the 'new habit' of making a conscious effort of praising and blessing God. You know, saying: "Praise the Lord!" or "Bless God!" or "Hallelujah" or "God be praised!" or "Glory to God!" I think I will praise the Lord more often through prayer and singing and making melody in my heart (you really don't want to 'hear' me sing.)

In our society, we are surrounded with curse words, vulgar words, and words that grieve, bringing dishonor to my Lord through using His name lightly or for a 'bad' thing...a curse. Do you cast these words down?? If you do, you will have control over these horrible words that enter your soul and mind. You will be rejecting and not accepting such words.

Why not do the opposite from the world and constantly give praise to the Lord?? Where there is praise to God your spirit is lifted. When you are thankful for all you see around you in His beautiful nature your outlook on your life quickly improves. When you praise God even when things go wrong we shift our dependency from ourSELF to God as the supplier of our every need. We allow Him to be Who is IS, God.

I am going to start a 'new habit' for the month of May 2012, and it won't be shoes!! I get dressed each morning but don't put on my shoes but instead shod my feet with the gospel in preparation for my day. Now I am going to do better at praising by making a more conscious effort to remember to bring the sacrifice of praise to God be it through prayerful thoughts or a song. So, I am going to exercise a new habit of praise this month!! What about YOU??

By His Grace Alone,

~Judith~
