Reflections on Forgiveness: Day 1

Soon I'm going to sink down into my pillows and like many other nights before, reflect on my day, now spent. I have regrets as I walked this day a little too much in the flesh, not in the Spirit. You see, sometimes I am the one who needs to ask forgiveness when too often I focus on how offended "I" am!!

As I drift off to sleep tonight, this is my prayer:

"O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." ~Psalm 139:1~

Search me, O God, not my husband or child. ME!! Change me, O God!!

There is one prayer God just waits for you to say. He wants you to ask Him to search you.

Have you given God permission to dig into your life?

I prayed that prayer last week. O, how hard this week has been!!
What about you?

Have you given God permission to dig into your life?

When we give God permission to dig into our life, we give Him permission to reveal those sins that we are blinded to. It is scary to look deep into our heart but it is scarier not to!! God is a transformer of hearts and He is quietly waiting for our permission to change us. Something He loves to do!!

Will you allow God to look deep into your heart to see if there are grudges and unforgiveness resides there? Walk with me through this month as I prepare for Thanksgiving.

A heart that harbors offenses and bitterness is a heart that cannot be truly thankful.

I'd LOVE you to leave a comment!!

  1. This is a great reminder, Judith! God does use my own hurts to show me where I need to change and grow. But, still, I need to pray this prayer more often . . .

  2. Hello! I'm visiting from Barbie's link up Fresh Brewed Sunday.

There is this wonderful man in my church who is a prayer warrior and one day while I was seeking prayer he looked at me and said, "Most often God is trying to change us not the person we are praying for. Yes, He is working on them too, but He wants to do a new work in your heart. He wants to break you down so He can build you up in Him."

I knew this, I did, but the way he said it with tears streaming down his face, I knew he was speaking from a spot of brokenness made into a new person. It really struck me deep and so much of God's love was revealed to me.

    Thanks for sharing,

  3. Yes, it is often through experience that we encourage other people to forgive. If we don't, we'll be worse off.

  4. Hello Judie,

It has been a very long time since our cyber paths crossed. I was delighted to see your name pop up on a mutual friend's Facebook site. I don't know if you remember me or not... Tammy Erow.... we lived in Quitman, Georgia when we were "e-pals" back in the early years of the new century! I sent you a jar of fig jam or strawberry fig jam that I had canned.
I could go on and on. Life has taken me through many turns and changes, but The Lord Jesus is still my constant source of strength and love. I'd love to catch up. Find me on Facebook.... I'll send you a friend request. ~~Blessings~~ Tammy Erow

  5. I KNEW before I saw your name at the bottom of your comment that a friend had found me :-)...Yes, I remember you but sadly not the fig jam. I remember your testimony of gratitude and thankfulness when it wasn't easy. I have often thought of you and wondered how you were doing. You were a blessing in my life. I will check Facebook later this morning.
