Faint and Worry MUCH; Pray and Faint NOT!!

"Men ought always to faint pray; and not to faint."
~Luke 18:1~

Oops!! I typed 'faint' instead of 'pray!' Isn't that what we too often do instead  of pray?! That is what I am doing right now - fainting!! That is why I am writing this post!! Not to divulge my circumstances but because my situations diminish through encouraging others in Christ.

Sometimes we pray, or think we are praying while all the while our thoughts wander and we are daydreaming, thinking, or maybe we are worrying and filling our minds with anxiety.

This verse comes from the parable Jesus told of the 'unjust judge.' You can find it in Luke 18:1-8. It is about a widow. I love the stories about widows because I need to learn, now, all the character that is spoken about in the bible about widows. Even if we are not widows, don't you think God intends for us to develop those character traits?!

It isn't going to come automatic should one of us become a widow. The widows we want to emulate developed this godly character over their whole life.

This story tells how the widow had an adversary. The unjust judge did NOT fear God but she came to him anyhow because he was in authority.

She said to him, "Avenge me of mine adversary." He would not avenge her. But she kept coming to him with her need until he finally became tired of her persistence and granted her request.

God who is just, loves you so much!! He cares for you more than you could ever think. He is the God who created the universe so vast that we cannot even imagine or comprehend it. We are trapped inside a finite mind and so often put his vast creation out of our minds, taking it for granite. We strive to figure our problems out ourselves instead of calling out to him for help. All God wants is to solve our problems for us, totally, Himself!!

We worry over small things making them grow out of proportion. We don't cry to God day and night like this passage says that God's elect, Christians should do. The passage says, "And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?"

It goes on to say, "I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on earth?" ~ Luke 18:6-8~

Are you trusting God for each situation in your life, home, marriage, children, finances??

OR, are you striving in your own strength to figure it out and FAINTING out of the anxiety of it all!!

God wants us to Pray and Faint NOT!!

What will YOU do??

For me, I am going to stop fainting and pray much instead of fainting much!!

In Christ Alone,
~Judith~

  1. This is great and I find myself struggling with this too. Just wrote about it on my blog at www.fanta4two.com about worrying over my boys' future.

But what keeps me going is resisting the devil and the worry darts he shoots at me, and constantly memorizing Scripture and praying out to my Savior. He provides the peace and the strength to go on.

Will pray for you too. Thanks for sharing your heart with the world.
