Love is Not Irritable: Part 2

If you missed Part 1 of "Love is Not Irritable", you may read it first.

There is something about having children in your life and marriage that can start and end the day in stress, no matter how much you enjoy having these wonderful blessings in your life!! They are born with a sinful nature and even if you did everything perfectly in raising and teaching them from the get-go, they have to make the choice themselves to accept Jesus as their personal Savior. There are no grandchildren in heaven!!

The energy level of children coupled with all the housework, homeschooling, cooking, errands, and all that a mother does for her family combined with her own ebb and flow of energy can produce stress. I'm sure that there are some ladies that don't relate to this at all. I'll admit, I have been affected by stress!! How about you??

Are you getting enough sleep?? When my children were little, I often burned the candle at both ends. This brings on snappish behaviour in a mom and you know what?? We pass that on to our children and then have nothing left for our husbands!! A wife can think she is doing all the wifely duties she is supposed to do...and being a wonderful wife...but if she is snappish towards her children or husband...that isn't love!!

Overworking, overplaying, and overspending are all areas that show the symptoms that there is stress in your life. Stress can affect your health and can simply be a drag on you emotionally and physically. Relationships with children or your husband can bring stress into your life through arguing, division, and bitterness, if you don't change your heart through the cleansing blood of Jesus. (Love Dare-key words-p. 27)

Spending time in God's word can relieve stress through the transformation of your heart and mind through Jesus Christ. I find that through simply opening my bible and reading God's word, the stress in my life starts to diminish as God works in my heart bringing balance back into my life. As you read your bible, pray and ask God to work in the areas that bring concern to your thoughts. Bring your thoughts into captivity so that you stop fretting and worrying, relying on the Lord to work your problems out.

When I was 14, there was a secular song I listened to by Kate Smith who sang in the 1940s, long before I was born (I'll have you know I'm not THAT old, lol). I often think that, "If I had my life to live over" I do LOTS of things differently in my marriage. What a blessing that God is a merciful and forgiving God and that we can start with a new slate each time we fail.

Kate Smith sung back in the 1940s long before my time. Here are some of the words to one of her songs that turn our love for our husbands into something that lasts through the years. I have memories with my husband since I was a new bride at twenty-three. If you invest in your marriage with loving actions towards your husband, will you be able to sing to your husband thirty or more years from now??

"If I had my life to live over
I'd do the same things again
I'd still want to roam
Near the place we called home
Where my happiness never would end
I'd meet you when school days were over
And we'd walk through the lanes we once knew
If I had my life to live over
I'd still fall in love with you!!"

"Choose today to react to tough circumstances
in your marriage in loving ways instead of with irritation.
Begin by making a list of areas where you need to add margin to your schedule.
Then list any wrong motivations that you need to release from your life."

  1. Have a spare half hour and thought I'd pop over... and so glad I did!

Everything you wrote is so true! I think one of the biggest stressers in my life is self-inflicted through staying up late and getting up early! The Bible says this is not wise and rightly so... I become irritable when I am tired and that is NOT a good witness.

Thank you for linking up with Scripture Sunday this week Judith and for all the support and encouragement you have been since meeting up online. So much appreciated and I thank God for online friends like you :D I am so blessed :D
